Christabelle Baranay
KnowMeWell is a Central Australian consultancy service run by Christabelle Baranay.
KnowMeWell training and services have been delivered to organisations and carers from remote communities in Central Australia to participants in capital cities, country towns and professional symposiums.
KnowMeWell uses an adaptable approach to life story work especially tailored for the professional, volunteer or family carers of elderly people, people living with dementia, people with disabilities and people in palliative care.
I have lengthy experience as an aged care trainer, care worker, dementia specialist, activities consultant, and cultural arts facilitator.
My first hand experience of witnessing a vital, strongly independent aunty in residential care be treated with disrespect and denied her lifelong routine of an early morning cup of tea - thrust me into advocating for person centred care. And so began my vocation in life story work and running life story programs for people living with dementia, people living with disabilities, and their carers .
My work focuses on helping people get to know the person at the centre of care in residential care, home care and remote settings. As an early champion of person centred care as now articulated in the Australian Aged Care Standards I am excited to offer my expertise to carers, families and organisations who share these goals.
